Solsona Turisme
The region of the thousand country houses

The Solsonès (with 13730 inhabitants) is a county in the Pre-Pyrenees where farmlands, woods and high mountain landscapes are combined in a special contrast. It has got fifteen municipalities but only six populated areas, because the area is formed by spread country houses. Some of these houses are examples of the characteristic buildings of the rural Catalonia from the XV and XVIII centuries. This is the reason of the nickname of Solsonès “The region of the thousand country houses”. This area offers the opportunity to play sports or discover the Romanic, Gothic and Neolithic remains in the most unsuspected corners. All this ensemble is part of a landscape where people have found the balance between humanity and the lands.
